CivicTechWR is a volunteer-driven civic technology group based in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. We build and support digital tools that serve the public good. We are committed to protecting your privacy and using data responsibly.

2. What We Collect

We collect only the data that’s necessary to operate our tools and services. This may include:

  • Basic profile information: If you log in via third-party services (like Google, Facebook, or LinkedIn), we may store your name, email, and profile ID.
  • Access tokens: To connect your account to external platforms (e.g., to publish or pull in content), we may store tokens securely.
  • User-generated content: Any posts, submissions, or content you voluntarily create or upload.
  • Operational metadata: Technical details like timestamps, platform info, and feature usage — only to ensure the service works properly.

We do not: - Sell your data
- Share your data with advertisers
- Track you across other websites

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect solely to:

  • Authenticate users securely
  • Provide features you’ve chosen to use
  • Maintain the functionality, performance, and security of our services

We don’t access your content unless you explicitly ask for support.

  • All data is stored on servers managed or vetted by CivicTechWR.

  • Tokens and sensitive data are encrypted at rest.
  • We retain data only as long as necessary and delete it when no longer needed.
